Every supplier says their peptides are pure. The certificate is where that claim is either backed up or quietly avoided. Here is what each number on a certificate of analysis actually means, and how to check one before you buy.

“Third-party tested” has become the least meaningful phrase in this market. It appears on almost every Canadian peptide site, frequently with no certificate attached, or with a certificate that names no batch, no laboratory and no method.
A certificate of analysis is a lab document describing one specific batch of material. If it cannot be tied to the vial in your hand, it is decoration. This guide walks through the fields that matter, using real certificates, and shows what a weak result looks like as well as a strong one.
1 · Purity, and the method used to measure it
Purity is the share of the sample that is the target peptide rather than related impurities. It is meaningless without the method beside it. HPLC-UV separates the sample and measures what comes off the column — it is the standard for purity. Mass spectrometry confirms the molecule is the right one, which is a different question.
A credible certificate names the method. If it just says “99%+ pure” with no technique, no chromatogram and no lab, treat it as marketing copy.

2 · Content found vs. content expected
This is the field most buyers skip, and it is arguably more useful than purity. It states how much peptide the lab actually recovered from the vial against the labelled amount.
Slightly over the label is normal and expected. Manufacturers overfill to guarantee the stated dose survives filling and freeze-drying losses. Our KPV batch assayed 11.65 mg against a 10 mg label; the NAD+ batch came in at 498.02 mg against 500 mg. Both are unremarkable.
Meaningfully under the label is the red flag. A vial assaying below its stated content means you are not getting what you paid for, and any calculation based on the label will be wrong.

3 · Batch number
The single most important field, and the one most often missing. A certificate documents one production batch. If the batch number on the certificate does not appear on your vial, the certificate does not describe your product.
Our batch identifiers look like RH-RETA-10mg-050826 or WB-BPC-10-022026 — source, compound, strength, date. The format matters less than the fact that one exists and is traceable.
4 · Appearance
Nearly all research peptides ship lyophilized — freeze-dried — and should be described as a white or off-white powder or cake. It is a small field but a useful cross-check: if the certificate says white lyophilized powder and the vial contains something discoloured, clumped or already in solution, stop and ask before doing anything else.

5 · The issuing laboratory
“Third-party” means a laboratory with no stake in selling you the product. A certificate should name the lab and the test date. An unnamed lab is not a third party, and a certificate with no date could describe material made years ago.

The GHK-Cu 100 mg batch assayed 96.26% — the lowest figure on this page, and roughly three points below the rest. That is a real number from a real certificate. It is still a usable research-grade result, but it is not 99%, and we are not going to describe it as though it were. If a supplier’s every published certificate sits at an identical flawless figure, that is worth a question rather than reassurance.
Two entries show an expected content with no assayed figure. Where a certificate reports purity but not recovered content, we publish what the lab issued rather than filling the gap ourselves.
Red flags on a certificate
Lyophilized peptides are comparatively robust — that is the point of freeze-drying, and it is why they survive domestic shipping at ambient temperature without degrading. Stability changes once the vial is opened.

What purity figure should I expect?
Research-grade peptides are typically supplied at 98–99%+ by HPLC. Our published batches run from 96.26% to 99.89%. Be sceptical of any supplier whose every certificate reports an identical, perfect number — real batches vary.
Why does the assayed content exceed the label?
Deliberate overfill. Filling and freeze-drying both incur small losses, so manufacturers slightly overfill to guarantee the labelled amount is present. Content below the label is the direction that should concern you.
Does a certificate prove the product is safe?
No. A purity certificate describes the chemical composition of a batch — how much of the sample is the target compound. It is not a safety assessment, not a sterility or endotoxin test unless those are separately reported, and it says nothing about whether a compound is appropriate for any particular use.
How do I match a certificate to my vial?
Compare the batch number on the vial label against the batch number on the certificate. They must be the same. If your vial carries no batch identifier at all, no certificate can be tied to it.
What is the regulatory status of these products in Canada?
Peptide products intended for human use are regulated as drugs in Canada and require authorization from Health Canada before they may be sold for that purpose. The compounds sold here are not authorized by Health Canada, are supplied strictly for laboratory research, and are not for human or veterinary consumption.
