MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded by the mitochondrial genome. It acts as a hormonal regulator of metabolic homeostasis, with powerful effects on insulin sensitivity, exercise performance, and metabolic health. MOTS-c levels decline with age, and supplementing has been linked to anti-aging, fat loss, and improved energy.

Half-Life

Short in plasma; biological effects last much longer

Common Dose

5–10 mg per week

Route

Subcutaneous injection

Frequency

5 days on / 2 off

Mechanism of Action

MOTS-c activates AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) — the body's master metabolic sensor — increasing glucose uptake, fatty acid oxidation, and mitochondrial biogenesis. It improves insulin sensitivity in muscle, reduces fat accumulation, and mimics many of the benefits of exercise at the cellular level. It also modulates nuclear gene expression for metabolic and stress-response genes.

Reported Benefits

  • Improved insulin sensitivity and glucose control
  • Enhanced fat loss, especially visceral fat
  • Increased exercise capacity and endurance
  • Mitochondrial biogenesis
  • Anti-aging metabolic effects
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Better energy and recovery
