Epithalon

Also known as: Epitalon, Epithalone, AEDG Peptide

Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) developed by Russian gerontologist Vladimir Khavinson, based on the natural pineal peptide epithalamin. It is one of the most well-known anti-aging peptides, primarily studied for its ability to lengthen telomeres, normalize melatonin production, and extend healthspan in animal models. Often run in short annual courses.

Half-Life

Short (~30 min), but biological effects persist much longer

Common Dose

5–10 mg per day for 10–20 day cycles

Route

Subcutaneous injection

Frequency

Once daily for 10–20 consecutive days

Mechanism of Action

Epithalon stimulates telomerase activity, the enzyme that maintains telomere length on chromosomes. By extending telomeres, it helps preserve cellular replication capacity and delay senescence. It also normalizes melatonin secretion from the pineal gland, restoring circadian rhythms, and modulates several pro-longevity gene expression pathways.

Reported Benefits

  • Telomere lengthening / telomerase activation
  • Normalized melatonin production
  • Improved sleep quality and circadian rhythm
  • Anti-aging effects on skin and immune function
  • Antioxidant properties
  • Potential lifespan extension (animal studies)
  • Improved energy and overall well-being

Side Effects

  • !Very well-tolerated in studies
  • !Mild injection site irritation
  • !Rare lightheadedness
  • !No significant adverse effects reported

Dosage Protocol

Common dose5–10 mg per day for 10–20 day cycles
Range5–10 mg daily, 1–2 cycles per year
FrequencyOnce daily for 10–20 consecutive days
AdministrationSubcutaneous injection

Notes

10 mg vial — reconstitute with 2 mL bac water → 5 mg/mL: 20 units (0.2 mL) = 5 mg. Typical protocol: 5–10 mg daily for 10–20 days, repeated 1–2 times per year. Most users run a 10–20 day course rather than continuous daily use.

Research Status

Decades of Russian research including human trials showing improved biomarkers of aging. Limited Western clinical data.

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active malignancy (telomerase activation theoretical concern)
  • Known hypersensitivity

Storage

Lyophilized: refrigerate. Reconstituted: refrigerate, use within 30 days.

Legal Status

Research chemical. Not approved for human therapeutic use.
